On February 24, Russia attacked Ukraine. It is currently the 13th day of a full-scale invasion. These are the highlights of the day that we have selected for you today.
- Ukrainian army shot down 3 Russian fighters, one helicopter and destroyed a “cruise missile” near Kyiv
- Russia is number one in the world in number of sanctions against it
- Sumy, Northern Ukraine, took a heavy blow: Russians bombed the city – houses were destroyed. Many dead and wounded.
- In Zhytomyr, Central Ukraine, and near it Russians hit tank factory, airport and oil depot
- Land part of Kharkiv is completely under Ukraine’s army control
- Territorial Defense force and Ukraine’s armed forces destroyed assault group of 120 people near Kharkiv, Eastern Ukraine Most of them were destroyed on the spot, the rest fled to the territory of the Belgorod region of Russia
- Over 600,000 were evacuated from Kharkiv, Eastern Ukraine, by trains – highways are overloaded
- In Mykolayiv area, Southern Ukraine, Russians shelled minibus with teachers of orphanage – at least 3 civilians killed and 2 wounded
- Russian army also fired during “green corridor” in Sumy, Northern Ukraine. But evacuation could resume later
- In Berdyansk, Zaporizhzhia region,Sothern Ukraine, Russians conducting pro-Russian agitation, seized radio “Azov wave”
- Air strike on Kalynivka, Vinnytsia region, Southern Ukraine. missile hit warehouses w industrial goods & household chemicals, caused fire. Information about victims is being clarified.
- Residents of Oleshky, Kherson region, Southern Ukraine, occupied by Russians, went on protest against occupiers,chanted “Oleshky is Ukraine!”
- U.S. imposes ban on all Russian oil and gas imports
- Residents of Svatove, Luhansk region, Eastern Ukraine, went to streets to block movement of Russian army equipment
- For the first time in history, Japan decided to provide Ukraine with bulletproof vests, helmets,tents, winter clothes,medicines and similar equipment
- Poland is ready to provide its MiG jets to U.S.(for expected donation to Ukraine)
