On February 24, Russia attacked Ukraine. It is currently the 18th day of a full-scale war. These are the key events of the day that we have selected for you today
• Border guards with a unit of Ukraine’s Armed Forces stopped an enemy column in the Kharkiv region: they destroyed the enemy’s “Tiger” and self-propelled artillery. Ukrainian defenders withdrew without losses.
• Ukrainian troops destroyed 6 orc tanks, 2 armored personnel carriers, 1 tiger and captured 12 occupiers in the fighting in Mariupol.
• Military units and units of the Ukraine’s Operational Command “North” destroyed the enemy tank unit in Chernihiv region.
• Russians launched an air strike on the Yavoriv test site in the Lviv region in the morning. 9 people were killed and 57 were injured.
• Russian occupiers carried out an air strike on the International Center for Peacekeeping and Security in Lviv Region.
• Russians attacked the Pushcha-Vodytsia psychoneurological boarding school with artillery. One projectile hit the boiler room, the other – in the morgue. The explosion wave partially damaged the residential building of the institution.
• In Melitopol temporarily occupied by Russians , the head of the district council, Serhiy Priyma, was abducted.
• The mayor of Dniprorudne, Yevhen Matveev, was abducted.
• In Nikolaev in the morning occupiers bombed research and production complex of gas turbine construction “Dawn” – “Mashproekt”
• In the Donetsk region, Russian occupiers damaged the buildings of the children’s health center in Sviatohirsk. They also damaged two premises of the Svyatogorsk Lavra, where about a thousand people were staying at the time.
• Ukrainian military shot down an enemy bomber during an air raid on Chernihiv.
• Rallies “Kherson is Ukraine” continue in Kherson, several thousand people came out.
• 3,950 people were rescued in Kyiv region:
– the city of Borodyanka: 600 evacuated and brought to Zhytomyr;
– the city of Peremoha of Baryshivska OTG ㅡ managed to liberate a thousand people;
– 375 people were evacuated from the village of Velyka Dymerka, 198 of them children;
the city of Bucha ㅡ 600 people;
• 1,600 people rescued in Luhansk region:
– the city of Lysychansk ㅡ 400 people;
– the city of Rubizhne ㅡ 350 people;
– the city of Severodonetsk ㅡ 600 people;
– the city of Kreminna ㅡ 250 people.
